Who is Abdul
Dr. Abdul Jalil Al-Singace is a Bahraini scholar and professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Bahrain, sentenced to life in prison. After participating in a pro-democracy protest in March 2011, authorities arrested and imprisoned him ever since. He has also been denied access to medical care despite deteriorating health conditions.
We believe Abdul has wrongly and continuously suffered as a victim of academic captivity and this was the right moment to have his story told. Since his name did not receive much coverage, we wanted to make him and his achievements known.
What we did
Over the course of two long weekends, our team got together and decided it was time to raise awareness about the case of Abdul and the academic freedom fighters that we can all relate to.
